President and owner of A C Vilcheck Builders LLC and a lifelong student of construction detailing, Vilcheck is not your typical contractor. Even with a residential construction career that has spanned over 32 years, Al continues to be hands-on and in the field on every project.
Born and raised in Ohio, Vilcheck played professional basketball in Belgium in the mid 1970’s. While living in Europe, Vilcheck developed an appreciation for construction detailing and historical architectural influences. This new found interest in different building techniques, historical styles and fine craftsmanship ultimately lead to a career in construction after his basketball playing days.
After a span of 15 years working for several construction companies around the country, A C Vilcheck Builders LLC was founded in Greenville 17 years ago. The company has since developed an impressive project portfolio of custom homes and additions throughout the Upstate. Vilcheck attributes the company’s success to client satisfaction and a focus on a high quality of construction.
In addition to the pride he takes in his work, Vilcheck enjoys fine arts, Italian culture, and indigenous cuisine. He regularly hauls his custom built pig cooker to jobsites, charity fund raisers and even the University of Louisville for alumni events with his former basketball teammates and coaches. Second only to his pig pickins’, he admits that his true passion is still residential framing.
